Ideas, not a rigid menu

What can I ask?

Quite a lot of ordinary, awkward, half-finished or hard-to-explain things. You don't have to know the name of the service you need. Just tell us what you're trying to do and where you're stuck.

These are hints to get you thinking, not a promise that every request can be accepted.

A small question is still a question

Think it’s too small or silly to ask?

There are no silly questions here. Maybe you’re stuck on one small thing, need a quick review, or just want someone to help you see what you might have missed. You don’t need a big project — or a big budget.

Tell us what’s bothering you and the maximum you’d be comfortable spending. We’ll check whether we can help and what could reasonably be done within that amount. There’s no obligation to proceed.

Small problem? Small budget? That’s perfectly fine.
Ask a small question

A second opinion

  • “Does this idea make sense, or am I missing something?”
  • “Can someone independent look at this before I spend money?”
  • “Help me weigh up two or three options.”
  • “What questions should I be asking before I decide?”
  • “Can you give me a sensible outsider's view of this problem?”

Writing, documents and publishing

  • Review a report, proposal, guide, letter or presentation.
  • Tell me where a document is confusing, repetitive or too long.
  • Give a manuscript or chapter an independent read.
  • Help tidy up a self-publishing project or its supporting material.
  • Check whether the intended reader will understand what I'm trying to say.

Spreadsheets, databases and processes

  • My spreadsheet has become unwieldy. Is there a simpler way?
  • My database almost does what I need, but something is awkward.
  • Help me work out why a workflow keeps causing confusion.
  • I'm tracking work, costs or tasks manually. Can this be organised better?
  • Look at a small admin process and suggest practical improvements.

Research and making sense of information

  • Compare a few products, services, approaches or suppliers against my needs.
  • Research a specific question and give me a concise written summary.
  • Help separate useful evidence from assumptions or sales claims.
  • Find gaps in a plan or list the things I should check.
  • Turn a jumble of notes into a clear, usable outline.

Small fixes and finishing jobs

  • Help me finish something that's been sitting at 90% complete.
  • Review instructions, forms or a process that people keep getting wrong.
  • Help make a document, tracking sheet or set of notes easier to use.
  • Look at a specific snag and help define the next sensible step.

Simple websites and useful pages

  • Create a straightforward landing page that explains what my business does.
  • Put together a useful information page for customers, members or staff.
  • Create or improve a business FAQ page so I don't have to answer the same questions repeatedly.
  • Review a small website and suggest what is missing, confusing or out of date.

Make everyday work easier to record

  • Identify the few pieces of information worth recording every time a job is done.
  • Turn a repeated task into a simple checklist or recording sheet.
  • Help design a basic way to record jobs, visits, costs, requests or follow-ups.
  • Reduce repeated typing by creating a reusable form, template or simple tracking table.

A simple web tool for a recurring task

  • Could a small web page or tool simplify a calculation, lookup or routine decision?
  • Help sketch out what a simple internal tool should do before anyone builds it.
  • Explore a small online form or tracker for a task currently handled by email or paper.
  • Work out whether a simple tool is worthwhile—or whether a spreadsheet would be enough.

Something else entirely?

That may be fine, too. You might have a very specific question that doesn't fit any heading here.

Send a short description first. We'll assess whether it fits our experience, what would be involved, and whether we can agree a clear scope and price.

No obligation to proceed, and no need to send sensitive files just to ask.

Describe your problem

A few boundaries

UPosted is intended for practical reviews, written feedback and defined problem-solving tasks. We may decline work outside our experience, work that needs a regulated professional, urgent or open-ended assignments, or requests where the expected outcome cannot be made clear. We don't promise to solve every problem; we do aim to be honest about what we can offer.
